Hello, and welcome to my new blog entitled WASP 101. What is this blog about? Well, I intend to focus on the lifestyle known as WASP, and we will attempt to help those interested in participating in the lifestyle to do so. This blog will also give fellow WASP the opportunity to talk and share thoughts. Most of the viewers may know that the phrase WASP is actually an acronym, but I believe the phrase has long since transcended its beginnings. Anyone can be a WASP, and anyone can live the lifestyle. For those who have never heard the term, an individual classified as a WASP could also be called a preppie.
What aspects of WASP life will we focus on? Fashion for the most part; however, we will venture into home decor and other subjects related to WASPs.
Alright, well let's begin class! Welcome to WASP 101.

Hello Richard,
I found your blog innocently by doing a google search for a photo of a white dinner jacket. Low and behold I found your site and have been fascinated by it.
One certainly doesn't need to be born a WASP to embrace the lifestyle and attire. I was born in Forest Hills, Queens NY in the '40s and have been a traditional dresser all of my life. During my teen age years I only wore khaki's, button down shirts, crew neck sweaters and for dress occasions a navy blazer. A look that is as pragmatic and stylish today as ever. In those years I had two pair of shoes, both brown penny loafers.
As I got older, my sense of style developed along with my ability to earn a living. I shopped at Bloomingdale's and Paul Stuart and was and have been a fan of Ralph Lauren ever since his first wide tie made the scene in the late '60's.
I now live in Palm Beach County, FL
and of course there is no need for my prized shetland crew neck sweaters any longer. That said I remain a preppy deeply rooted in traditional roots that were honed in my youth.
Thanks for your blog. Keep up the good work. I will be following you and look forward to listening to the Ralph Lauren/Charlie Rose interview available on your blog tonight.
All good wishes, Allan Yale1966
I would just like to point out that it is much more nuanced than 'being a WASP is being preppy.' The way a WASP (Whit Anglo-Saxon Protestant) depends on their generation and how old their family is. Also there is much more to being a Wasp than how you dress. Also, if you are not born a Wasp it is extremely difficult to become one.
Hi - I just read your blog (recent to first post) - thanks for all the posts and advice. All good advice and great looking men's wear. Thanks again. I'll add you to my trad list.
