The Safari Jacket

The safari jacket and safari inspired clothing has seen a resurgence in modern designers clothing. However, the safari jacket has always been a classic jacket that inspires adventure and passion. Immediately, when I see a safari jacket, I am taken to a romantic African adventure. I hear the sounds of the wild, and the intensity of the jungle. And while focusing on this fantasy, I realize that every man wishes and strives to find a woman that removes him from his conscious state and brings him to a romantic safari. I think I found mine :) When I see a safari jacket, I also think of ascots, linen trousers, and Land Rover Defenders. In addition, Ralph Lauren has created many romantic safari scenes. His new book is full of safari inspired photos! You know, I think I will take a little risk and go on an adventure. I want to see where it leads me!

I'm sure LBT can attest to the fact that Africa is a truly special place unto it's own, especially East Africa. I was fortunate enough to go on safari there, and it is one of the most memorable experiences I've had. The dichotomy of nature's capacity for beauty and cruelty are truly amazing. Thanks for bringing back those great memories.

I was in Africa a few years ago, on safari, and I don't recall it being romantic.

It was wonderfully hot, and we had a great hunt and lots of fun.

I like the jacket too, only mine is a bit too broken in now to wear any place other than a safari.

Great post!

I have been considering a safari jacket for some time - perhaps I shall splash out before the summer. Although I'm not sure where my adventures will take me just yet, I intend to be well-dressed wherever I go.

I hate to be a buzzkill, but I would strongly discourage anyone going to Africa now from buying a safari jacket, bush jacket, or whatever. You will be laughed at. By all means take some bush shirts, made out of twill or poplin, in beige, tan, British khaki colours, and maybe a khaki sport coat or cotton blazer if you feel the need.

Brett ~ Yes, Africa can be a pretty rough place. However, I am drawn to it.
