As the pollen began to make me sneeze today, I realized spring is truly on its way. Therefore, I am continuing to focus on spring/summer essentials. And todays essential is the white dinner jacket. A true must for the WASP wardrobe, and a staple for all classically dressed men. A white dinner jacket is so refreshing and clean. It envokes a classic but yet laid back image. It also envokes images of James Bond, a cruise, or a mid-summer evening party. I personally own a Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece cream dinner jacket, and I love to add a purple square to add just a subtle hint of color. Red works well with pure white, but I believe that a light purple square looks best against a cream colored jacket. Be sure to wear nice gold links, and a classic watch. It is the small details that add to the jacket's allure!

Not to strum my own guitar, but at my wedding I switched my jacket from Black-at the ceremony, to White-at the evening reception. It worked out very well as I stood out in all the reception pictures. Good post...

Great post, Richard. The white dinner jacket is such a classic look. I wish there were more occasions where a DJ was required.
A gentleman may sport a white dinner jacket anytime after five and need not wait for an occasion if ones local social calendar is limiting.
White dinner jacket always looks fantastic in summer -- I was married in my D&G version in August. However, any watch with formal wear is not good -- less is more. Keep it in your pocket.
And here I thought that the white dinner jacket was only to be worn in either a tropical heat or when aboard a ship.
But as it seems that those do not apply anymore... I should just get a white tux anyway.
Thank you for the post!
