Belgian loafers may be the most comfortable shoes on the face of the earth. I purchased this pair of bottle green loafers about two years ago, and I have enjoyed them immensely. I wear them around home, and on occasion I wear them in casual settings. Belgians come in either a soft sole or leather version. In addition, the shoes come with a bow like tassel, or you can replace the bow with a crest. Also, my experience ordering the shoes was a pleasant experience. The store insisted on mailing me the shoes to try on before sewing on the crest. After all checked out, I mailed them back for completion and I only had to pay for shipping once (if I recall correctly). Perhaps, I will demonstrate them in action a little later on.

Those are some splendid shoes. Is that a crest of your own?
It is a crest I selected from their selection, and I put the initial for my last name in the middle.
you put gals to shame who are addicted to shoes. i love the process. i've never seen them put to use in real life, so you must show everyone.
Having found this blog I am now keenly aware of the paucity of my shoe collection!!
Hullo Wasp:
Bought my first pair 20 years ago and have been a dedicated follower ever since. I live weekends in a large and drafty house and find my Belgians to be the perfect house shoe. Not really a slipper, but more satisfyingly shoe-like than that with yet a wonderful soft leather sole. Funny thing is friends of mine who had rolled their eyes when seeing mine turn into converts once they try on such a deliciously soft and comfy shoe. Useful to have the rubber soles added by Belgian over time, makes running out for the paper (or after the dog) possible when the grass is wet. Next thing you know you own six pairs in different finishes...and then you realise that you have joined the Cult of the Belgian!
Reggie's right there! They are addictive.
My local cobbler added a thin rubber veneer to the bottom of my pair once I had them nicely worn in. they recently took me from a flight, through the airport, into the taxi and to cocktails in NYC.
I bought my first pair in 97 (dark brown suede) and have been a fan ever since. I always believed the classic Gucci snaffle-bit loafer was the most comfortable shoe I'd ever worn until I slipped on my first pair of Mr. Casual (the soft-soled model). I wear them when I travel (especially on long international flights) and around town--they look great with jeans or khakis and a blazer or casual jacket.
