Late Night Dreaming

Have you ever had a dream that seemed so real? Well, last night after a casual dinner, I slipped into my viyella robe and nappa slippers. I have not had a smoke in weeks, so I fired up my pipe for a change. After reading and smoking for a while, I fell asleep in my leather club chair. As my mind began to wander, I was in a larger than life house and I was sitting in a beautiful library. I was dressed in a dark blue smoking jacket, ascot, white shirt, and black tuxedo trousers. As I walked out of my library, I entered a gorgeous billiard room with a moose head on the wall.

This is how I imagined the library. Town & Country preview of Ralph Lauren's new book.

I began to set the table, and in walks my competition. It is Ann Hathaway, and she says, "care for a game handsome." I have no clue why Ann Hathaway was in my dream. After the game (I don't know who won), she said, "your car is out front waiting on you." As I walked out of the house, I encountered the car of my dreams. It was a 1964 Aston Martin DB5. I sat down and started the car................then I woke up. I have tried to figure out what my dream meant, but I have decided it was a little bit of wishful thinking. I have a nice house and library, but certainly not a mansion or a library as lavish as Ralph Lauren's. And I definitely don't own a DB5, but maybe someday.

More Ann

I must have one :)

My only advice is to never have children.

Hmmmm...
On another note, Pendleton still makes their wonderful super-trad and waspy tartan wool robes, for sale directly on their website at a delightfully reasonable price. I grew up wearing one that was a (much appreciated) hand me down from my older brother who decided he no longer needed it (was too cool to wear) when he went off to Exeter.

WASP,

Surely, you are the reincarnation of an English Duke or Aristocrat. Perhaps a naughty one, hence your "demotion" to the New World in this incarnation. BTW, I'll fight you for the library and Aston!

Richard,

I just read that the Aston Martin being delivered to the James Bond set was crashed into a lake in Italy. I truly hope it was not the DB5 used in Casino Royale. Someone should be flogged if they allowed that to happen.

The Breakfast, The Library, The Moose Head, The Anne Hathaway, The Aston! Tres' Sporting!

As good fortune would have it, I covered a car race in Nevada where I got to drive a DB5, and the General Lee (owned by Bo Duke himself) in the same day. As much as I would love to say the DB5 felt better, it tended to get loose after about 110 mph. probably had something to do with the thin tires and wire wheels. The General Lee, on the other hand was delightful.

I guess you have to ask yourself, would you prefer Daisy Duke, or Pussy Galore?

As a fellow smoker, what do you usually find yourself smoking? I have accrued a nice collection of Dunhill pipes, but cannot seem to find a blend or mix that I seem worthy of it all, I've tried various Peterson and Dunhill, and was wondering your personal preferance, and which type of pipe tobacco that you enjoy(ie: shredded, flake, etc?). Ohh, and lovely pics of Ms. Hathaway.
