Looking Ahead

As I look forward to dinner with friends on Friday, I began to plan my outfit for the evening. Eventually, I decided to put the shoes and jacket I discussed the last couple days into action. The dinner will be a casual dinner at our home, and such occasions provide a great opportunity to wear Belgian Loafers or slippers. In the photos, I am wearing a blue dress shirt, blue ascot with small print, and a pink pocket square with my Belgians and summer tweed jacket. The menu will include filet mignon, wonderful desserts, and likely a lot of discussion about politics.

My pocket square matches my mood sometimes. Today, I feel reckless :)

I've got to say that if you're really going to wear the slippers and ascot around people, you're one of the coolest people I've ever virtually known.

Hi Richard, love the blog! Your latest post is wonderful - what an outfit! I must admit that I do feel a little self-conscious at times when I wear certain articles, such as tassel loafers or bright, preppy/waspy clothes. My friends live a similar lifestyle to mine in terms of work and interests however the majority often opt for the jeans and t-shirt look in the evenings. I find myself flying the preppy-flag alone 99% of the time! The comments do fly from time to time but people have come to expect it from me! Recently I have noticed male friends take note of the positive comments from the girls and don a blazer or polish up their loafers for an evening out! You are an inspiration for people like me! I adore the Belgians! Thank you! Keep up the good work! David(UK)
