Nantucket reds are a must for warm weather, and the best place to purchase these wonderful trousers is Murray's Toggery Shop located on the island of Nantucket. Other companies have tried to emulate the famous trouser, but their is only one brand for me. My friend Laguna Beach Trad (I hope it is okay to call you my friend) recently did a wonderful post about reds on his blog. The canvas style fabric is casual, but leave it to WASPs and preppies to pair these casual pants with blazers and ties. The trousers are also famous for fading to a perfect shade of pink as they grow older. Pictured below are some photos of my Nantucket reds.

In this photo, I am wearing with my reds a blue micro gingham shirt, yellow paisley bow tie, navy polka dot pocket square, navy double breasted blazer, and light brown horse bit (Gucci style) loafers. I also prefer a generous cuff with my navy double breasted blazer. Madras also looks great with Nantucket reds.

Richard,
I love your blog, and I have been reading the AAAC Trad Forum. Here is my opinion. I believe you are truly a WASP/Trad. I believe that most of your stories are true, or they at least have an element of truth. You are a talented and creative writer. Your blog is popular because you show us how to be a WASP, and you tell neat stories while doing so. You share enough about yourself to make it interesting, but you keep your identity anonymous. I also personally find both you and the Laguna Beach Trad very appealing. I think he is the west coast version of you, and you are the east coast version of him. Plus, you have one heck of a wardrobe. Wow!
Richard,
Excellent post! I have never seen anyone wear reds with such style. Well done!
Very nice!

I agree with the first comment-good work.
Nice shade of pink on those reds. I like it. Don't think I'd pair them with a double breasted blazer though. It looks like your top half is going in one direction and your bottom half is going in another. But that's just me.
Great blot, have a nice weekend.
I agree with anonymous, but I will make one edition. You know how to throw pictures of pretty girls into your stories. Loved the Natalie Portman post.
I personally like the DB blazer with the reds. I think it is very WASP. A WASP would have no fear of pairing dressier clothing with casual attire. However, even though the DB is dressier than SB, it is still a casual jacket. I love the look, well done my friend!
PS - I hope you can keep this up because if so, you are going to be famous :)
I was just bouncing about Atlanta in my well faded Reds over the weekend. Perfect timing!
Got my Reds from Grasscourt.com. Agree that they go well with a DB blazer.
Perfect timing. Being from California, I do not see these pants often (or, at least I haven't noticed). However, yesterday, standing outside the supermarket talking on his cell phone a gentleman wearing his reds, along with a blue blazer and white polo shirt. Strange the timing.
i can't recall seeing reds around LA, but i'll keep my eye out for em. love the mentions of both california & atlanta in the comments section!
Summer!
That shade of pink is best achieved by frequent dousing of the reds in salt water. Preferably aboard your sailboat. Breaks in the Topsiders, too.
Good look, don't be afraid to mix it up. Summer at the club might mean reds with your dinner jacket. Especially if you've just made the run to Bermuda.
You're a good kid and thank God you're not dressed in jeans down around your butt wearing a backwards baseball cap with the price tag still attached.
However, I must agree with Longwing here. No Nantuckets with DB unless: lose the bow tie, lose the socks and go open collared and do not button the DB jacket. I know, I know, that's a hanging offense over at AAAC but some of those guys are strung as tight as violins.
I do sail and lived on a boat my senior year in college and I see this all the time. Especially in Hamilton, Bemuda. Not that it means anything. I could be full of doo-doo but I promised Longwing I'd help him out.
Loose the socks and make those weejuns...
1) Lose the cuffs
2) Lose the socks
3) Get some Beef Roll Pennies or Blue Canvas Sperry's
Otherwise, nice over all wardrobe.
No matter how many times I stand on the lawn for a party at Habour Court NYYC after a regatta and see these ghastly pants, I will never be able to accept them as more than poke in the eye at a real man's fashion. The sight of them on a boy at the IYAC makes one want to sidle up to his date for the evening and steal her, if only to save her from the twit she has unwittingly allowed herself to pair up with.
Your blazer, snappy bow tie and shirt are quite sensible. Those trousers only inspire disdain, and even violence. Burn them, drive to your nearest haberdashery, while sans pants if you must, and acquire a pair of pants that prove that have in you a proper sartorial modicum of dress.
They are more criminal than wearing a bowler without straps.
The only place to get "Nantucket Reds" is at Murray's on Main Street on Natucket Island...all others are simply not the same!
I love the look however , the only thing that irks me is the double breasted blazer it's trad but a little old school but then again trad is always better at times , I prefer a notched lapel single breasted navy blazer with a navy and red repp tie and of course the Nantucket reds however I Used to love Nantucket Reds The fact prior to this year no one knew what the heck was a pair of Nantucket Reds , but unfortunately they're everywhere and are becoming a commonplace commodity .what made them special is gone , I will sorely miss them until next season in which they will go out of common place fashion an once again become a preppy staple
To the poster who said he got his "Reds" via a website: I hate to break it to you, but no, you didn't. You got knock-offs. The original Reds -- and the only trademarked Nantucket Reds -- are sold at Murray's on Main Street, Nantucket.
