Hand Me Downs

Hand-me-down clothing can have great appeal if the garment is well made. The thought of wearing something your father or grandfather wore is exciting, and the garment's history is often evident. Scars and wear add character, and they often spark conversation.
The photo above is another favorite of mine from the Sartorialist. This suit was identified as a hand-me-down, and I love how the linen has aged. It almost looks like a tobacco leaf, and the pants and vest are perfection. I would love to know what shoes he is wearing in the photo.

I, too, love well-kept hand me downs. My favorite piece is probably my Tweed sport coat which was give to me by my brother after graduating from Harvard - it just gives me a great confidence. (And of course looks great)

Lovely suit-but the sleeves need a little shortening. I recently inhereted a 1965 Huntsman sport coat-it's fantastic.
