Many traditions are lost as generations pass, and the common use of shooting jackets and breeks is an example. Seldom do we see men sporting the classic sportswear featured above, but we do have many photos we can cherish of men such as the Duke of Windsor wearing beautiful tweed shooting outfits. I recall seeing a photo of the Duke wearing a checked tweed from head to toe (he had a matching hat).I guess we can blame the decline on central heating and Al Gore's global warming crisis :) which brings me to another subject. I certainly do not want my blog to become one that discusses politics, but I can't help but to mention my disgust with all the political ads on TV. As an informed citizen, it amazes me how the general public is fooled by wild and ridiculous claims. We have state candidates in my area who claim they single-handedly saved military bases and raised teacher pay single-handedly, etc. The problem is these candidates currently hold office, and their current positions would not allow them to achieve their boasted accomplishments. However, most citizens don't understand the role of a lieutenant governor to a state, or even the president's role for that matter. I am also disgusted by the use of the word "free" in speeches, and I am disgusted more by those who believe it. Nothing is "free" in government! Somebody pays for it!

Please stick to matters sartorial.
Feel free to comment on anything and everything! Your public have no right to dictate what you do or don't write and I for one look forward to reading your blog each day. Long may it continue!
Now, Richard, if it were me, I would do nothing but write political commentary for a week after Mr. M's comment. Also, apparently the gentleman skipped the first paragraph of your post. I do like the shooting jacket very much. In a recent issue of Men's Vogue, there was an article on boar hunting in Italy. Very well dressed were those Italian hunters. No road crew orange to be found.
Sorry, but I don't want this to turn into another AAAC "Interchange". If you want to discuss politics, start another blog. I did read the first part, and enjoyed it very much, just like all your other posts. Thanks, Richard M
I suggest you carry on as you desire and that Richard M finds another blog to frequent.
blog free or die
is it okay to admit i like the comments section evevn more than the post? i feel like i snuck into the clubhouse.
:)
I can assure your readers that my candidate, and only my candidate, if elected, absolutely promises to provide each and every American with a monthly clothing allowance of $400 to stimulate the economy and restore the predominance of the American clothing industry (and the Union Label)!
Sorry, anonymous, but I will exert my rights to frequent this fine blog and respectfully comment about it.Again, lets not become the toxic AAAC Interchange.
I noticed no post, yet, this morning Richard. Obviously you are putting together a dissertation on last night's Indiana election results. I look forward to reading it and the comment slinging that will follow. Oh, this is good fun. God save the Queen.
Election aside, that's one hell of a tweed suit. Turn down the heat (or turn up the AC) and wear more tweed is what I say!
