Pincord Suit

A pincord suit is a nice addition to any summer wardrobe. It is a close cousin to the seersucker suit in my opinion, but there is a place for both in a WASPy summer wardrobe. The blue pincord has a solid appearance from a distance, but the stripes are clearly visible up close. This photo demonstrates a casual appeal as the suit is accompanied by a button down shirt and bit loafers. I also admire the ostrich skin belt in the photo. If you are going to choose between a seersucker and a pincord suit, choose the seersucker. However, if you are a clotheshorse like me, you will buy both. Of course, if gas prices do not cap off soon, I will have to moderate my clothing expenses.

I can't tell if that is what this is supposed to be:

If so, it's a bargain. "SALESHHH" gets you an extra 20% off of $175 + orders.

Just a thought o offset the holiday gas pricing.

Richard - is it really the price of gas or your shoe addiction, hmm?

My only concern about pincord is the Matlock factor. But I suppose I should grow up.

Colonel Sanders, whom I actually met when a young boy, looked GREAT in a pincord suit accoutered with string bow tie, and a beret. Yes, he really did dress that way, and he sported a white goatee too!

Please distinguish between a "Cord" and "Pincord". I had thought that pincord was a stiffer material than cord--the latter typlified by the tradional "Haspel" type that Matlock wore. I thought pincord was more like what Gregory Peck wore in "To Kill a Mockingbird".

Where can one buy a pincord?

If you notice, there are no socks in the photo. No mistake. The only appropriate way to wear a seersucker, pin cord, or poplin suit between Memorial Day and Labor Day, regardless of the venue, is sockless. Period. End of issue. If this is hard to grasp, don't wear the suit.

Having lived in Baltimore most of my life the pincord is a "must" from Memorial day until Labor day but sockless??? No way. If you work in most offices going sockless will make you a short timer there.
