(This is the post for Monday, and I am putting it up a little early)
As the days grow warmer (over 90 degrees today), one begins to realize that it is time for vacationing and nights spent at the country club. For the evening, I wore my Brooks Brothers summer tweed jacket, oxford cloth trousers (a little more break than I like.....must have them taken up), oxford cloth button down, bow tie, and bit loafers.
I have not been to the club recently, and several seasonal residents have returned that I have not seen in a while. The evening included a lot of back slapping and pretentious laughing. Actually, I enjoy very few of the members company, but I like the atmosphere. The members who are the most fun to talk to are the older women. My wife says I am such a flirt with older women, and she is right. I am amused by their over baked skin, golden locks, and over zealous personalities. Their husbands obviously pay them little attention.

The food was decent this evening! We dined on filet mignon and lobster, but I have had better. The desert was the best part of the evening, key lime pie, yum! As the evening progressed, the men began to lie more about their golf and tennis games. I seldom join these discussions because I am not interested in golf, and none of them can match my tennis skills :)

My shoes and whimsical socks.

As the evening went own, I removed my jacket and rolled up my sleeves. This is how the outfit looked without the coat.

As a regular reader of your blog, I normally like your choice of clothing... but not this time. Nothing really matches (light blue trousers with green socks - yuck)...if anything it looks like you are trying too hard to impress.
Rich - How do you find that Oxford cloth trousers wear?
I'm thinking about wrinkles, etc.
I know them to be a part of 'The Look', but other than some old BD Baggies shorts I've never worn Oxford execpt as an OCBD.
I imagine that Oxford is more forgiving than a crisp pair of Poplins, right?
Thanks -
Russell (Street).
WASPY,
Are you losing weight? Looking more svelte...

Sorry to have to agree with andrew, but this was a truly unfortunate combination of jacket, shirt, bowtie, trousers, shoes, and socks.
Thanks for sharing the photos. I think the outfit would have looked better with grey trousers.
Richard- That's a nice color for the pant. The quality of the material is evident. I would disagree with Andrew on the sock/pant color scheme. I like it. Although, I would prefer the outfit without the jacket (just like in the bottom photo). Where did you get those marvelous looking socks?
That is a great ensemble. Bravo on a job well done...as always.
brett - nope, I am not losing weight. I am 6'0 and between 168-170 lbs, and I have maintained this size since 8th grade.
alina & pete - thanks for the compliments, and I think the socks are from J Crew.
