I never thought of wearing a matching trouser with a blazer (or suit jacket with metal buttons). However, after viewing this suit made for the Duke of Windsor, I can't help but like it's unusual appeal. What do you think?

I agree that this suit, and all the others of the Late Great Duke, is spectacular. But we are talking about Ole Edward.
Let me put it this way: only Santa Claus looks good in red velvet with white fur trim.
I think it was perfect for old Ed, what with spread collar Windsor knot -no less- in 1924.I'll take an 3 button sack from the same period. nice post pic richard

Unfortunately, today, it would make one look like a majordomo or a doorman.
I agree with the other posters-the Duke was sui generis, and could get away with things that would look awful on us mere mortals.
I'd wear it, just not with a bow tie. A nice solid black or silver neck tie, or even an ascot. The whole "navy Blazer, with blue shirt and chinos" thing is getting really BORING! (sorry John McCain)
The Duke of Windsor was truly sui generis. Thanks to to God.
I would argue that the navy blazer with blue shirt and chinos, far from being boring is, in fact, a silent vote in favor of tradition and against the street trash that one sees promoted as
fashion on such sites as Satirist, or whatever it's called!
C'mon Richard,
Time for another post!
I don't mind a lighter colour button on a grey suit, but I don't think that I could pull off the metal ones.
