Somehow, this gentleman pulls off a worn out pair of jeans with his double breasted blazer, dress shirt, pocket square, and velvet loafers. However, I cannot approve this outfit, nor could I ever wear it. I would wear each item in the photo except for the jeans, and I would replace them with gray flannels, khaki chinos, or cream trousers. In addition, I know the velvet slippers are debatable, but I enjoy them for daytime wear.

Rich,
I agree - I like it, too. However, if it's not 'you' trying to pull this off would look ridiculous. The slippers are great, too.
It sure is good to have you back! Glad you're feeling better.

I do not agree with you at all.
If we are talking about the masculine classic fashion "rules", of course that this outfit could be almost a crime.
But if we prefer to talk about style, taste, personality, fresh ideas inspired in garments from the past I think that the man in the picture must feel happy to show himself in public with such a good look. It tells me that this man is brave and self-confident, and he doesn't care about what the others think or say about him. Certainly, this is a good point to begin with if what we want is to reach class and smartness.
My father loves his jeans - Levi's 501 vintage limited edition - and he knows how to wear them gracely despite he is 63 years old and his jeans really have a poor aspect.
You know that the more you wear your jeans, the more beautiful they become. The reason is that the genuine jeans grow old in the same way his owner does.
Mr. Andy Warhol used to wash and iron his jeans after everytime he wore them. This way - he said - they got a unique aspect and fit better.
Take a look on the man who is right beside the main character in the photo. He sports his jeans with turn-ups. I bet he wants to show the rest that he is wearing a genuine Levi's with their characteristic inseam and the red selvage. I think that everyone who loves Levi's jeans and wears them is showing a great respect for a period of the USA's history. At the same time a pair of jeans help us to feel a little bit rebel and ¿maybe younger?
Thanks a lot for your blog.

I believe the gentleman spilled something on his trousers. He is currently standing outside of the cleaners waiting for his trousers to be cleaned while sporting a "loaner" pair from the cleaners. I can only guess his shoes were involved in whatever mishap he had, as well.
Turling - that was great.
I don't think he actually pulls it off, either.
I'm not a fan of the short denim trousers. But I like the DB blazer and haircuts.
Those jeans aren't worn out.
I'll wager he payed an awful lot of money to purchase them that way.
This ensemble screams "decorator going to the Hamptons for the weekend." I think he pulls it off, but it's a little expected.
they look like a couple of blowjobs
GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its funny to see everyone mocking these men who happen to run MOST of the lines at Ralph Lauren, the Label most people despise, envy, adore, emulate, turn to when in need of a good outfit etc.
He knows what he is doing, sometimes wearing too much of one thing becomes stagnant and boring. Its fun to mix and match garments rather than always dress like an old man.
