As I mentioned in the last post, I received my tattersall Black Fleece sport coat, and I am impressed with Black Fleece. The jacket fit perfectly with exception of the sleeve length (they were too long). I am going to have it altered to shorten the length, but I must admit I am shocked that I am shortening a Thom Browne creation. Regardless, I am impressed with the research that has been put into the collections, and it is obvious that he is picking garments from the archives. The jacket I recently received has very narrow lapels, 3/2 roll, two button cuffs (basically very Ivy League). The jacket and its quality has sparked me to consider another purchase which is the cashmere madras sport coat featured above. It is a beautiful garment in my opinion, and I like the fact that it comes with unfinished sleeves. I will tell you that Black Fleece does seem to be trim fitting as well. I ordered a BB3 which is supposed to be a 42 R, but I normally buy 40 R in standard Brooks apparel.
And yes, I am allowing anonymous comments once again. I expect the return of the crude comments, but hey, I know how to delete.

Viewership dropped, eh?
Actually, it remained the same ! You are still reading, eh ?
Bravo, on the jacket(s) I like the one pictured very much.
Anonymous posting rules! Hey Beavis, how is something "madras" made of cashmere?
Hey Butthead, ask Brooks Brothers !
Madras will be made of cashmere the day that the double breasted cardigan you bought is considered a "jacket"
Charles,
Whooops, I guess his "double breasted cardigan" is a jacket.

So are we to assume that you know know more about these things then BB? I think not. Just because you know nothing about it, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
Thanks for allowing anonymous comments again. Your blog is really only half complete without them.
Please post pics of your new Black Fleece jacket.
poloist12,
My post was snarky, I know, but God is in the details. I am trying to make the point that you should not blindly believe what you read, especially on the internet, including what I write.
Just because the Brooks Brothers website lists the jacket as madras does not mean that is. Many a retailer mislabel their product, sometimes intentionally, to market to a certain group. Cashmere plaid doesn't sound as WASPy as cashmere madras, does it?
Certain materials disqualify certain labels. Again, just because Ralph Lauren calls a cashmere cardigan a jacket does not make it so. Both items are very nice, but fawning over, and defending how they are labeled, highlights both of your ignorance.

If you look at the alternate views you should be able to see my point.
Have a safe and happy new year.
Charles,
point taken. :)
I believe that the proper definition of madras is a plaid woven fabric from madras, india. The yarn of said fabric is dyed with a fragile dye that bleeds very easily. Based on this definition, cashmere could most certainly be madras fabric if it was woven from Indian dyed yarns.
I don't particularly see the need for all of you so-called "gentlemen" to clown on Richard. He's a bit of a dandy and that's a given but there's nothing wrong with that. If you don't have something nice today don't say anything at all.
