The Duke's Suit

Photo Credit: The Houndstooth Kid (Original Location: Unknown)

I never thought of wearing a matching trouser with a blazer (or suit jacket with metal buttons). However, after viewing this suit made for the Duke of Windsor, I can't help but like it's unusual appeal. What do you think?

I Like It, But I Can't Approve It !

Somehow, this gentleman pulls off a worn out pair of jeans with his double breasted blazer, dress shirt, pocket square, and velvet loafers. However, I cannot approve this outfit, nor could I ever wear it. I would wear each item in the photo except for the jeans, and I would replace them with gray flannels, khaki chinos, or cream trousers. In addition, I know the velvet slippers are debatable, but I enjoy them for daytime wear.

A Classic Look

Every now and then one struggles to combine patterns and colors, and one has to revert back to the good old basics. Gary Cooper was clever at mixing patterns, but he was also very good at putting together a simple but elegant suit. Gary is undoubtedly a hero of mine for many reasons, but today, I celebrate his simple suit appearance.

Rainy Days

photo: Ralph Lauren

Rainy days are gloomy, but one can certainly keep their spirits high by owning a quality rain coat and adding touches of color to the outfit. In this photo, the argyle, green cords, and yellow socks enhance the neutral khaki color of the raincoat. Throw on a tweed cap, and grab a country inspired plaid umbrella and your set.

Aristocratic Overcoat Display

Photo: Original Brideshead Mini Series

Have you ever noticed how the elite often wear their overcoats hanging off their shoulders as if it were a cape? It appears elegant in some situations, but it can provide an air that one is trying too hard. I tried it once, but without graceful movement the coat could easily become soiled from a fall to the ground. I guess that is why we have cleaning services though.

Best Dressed Bear.......Must Be Aloysius!

credit: www.bean-bear.com

Every now and then one spots a fabric they like in an unusual place. Today, the teddy pictured above doing a Sherlock Holmes impression is our subject. First, I have a passion for tweed jackets, but I love tweed suits even more. I currently crave cold weather so I can sport my tweed collection, and fortunately, it is already cool enough in the afternoon to wear them in my neck of the woods. However, I do not own a tweed suit like the one the teddy is wearing, but I love it. I may just treat myself since I have been sick, and have one made. I am thinking either a three piece or a 4 and 1 double breasted.

WASP 101 Is Still Alive And Kicking

DING DONG THE WITCH IS NOT DEAD! I appreciate all the get well wishes, and concern for my recent absence. Is WASP 101 calling it quits? NO! Unfortunately, I have been deathly sick, but it seems that I will make a full recovery. I have lots of catching up to do with work, but I will try to commit myself to the blog once again.

Posted above is one of my favorite pictures of Luciano Barbera. After closely looking at the photo, I realized I had a photo of myself that closely resembles his outfit. I don't think I look as elegant as Mr. Barbera, but the colors and pieces are similar.
