For many reasons, I have decided to to quit this blog.......I will not list them, but I do say thank you to the likes of LBT, Kathie Truitt, Suzanne Marques, etc. I appreciate your loyal and kind comments. For the rest of you characters, you will not pick on ole' Richard anymore.

I can certainly understand quitting a blog, and would not attempt to dissuade you from doing so. However, if you enjoy blogging, disabling or moderating the comments is one route to consider.
I do sympathize. I got to the point that I cannot even permit myself to visit, let alone post at, the significant menswear boards (AAAC, Style Forum, Fedora Lounge, etc.). The world of menswear enthusiasts online is, alas, a vile, ugly world (I could use stronger language), not quite redeemed by a few grace notes -- among which I count your blog.
I'll believe you've quit this blog when you delete it completely, a la Tucker.
The vitriol in this comments section is unmatched by any other blog I've ever read. What is it about WASPs and trads that encourages this kind of.. viciousness? Whatever it is, it touches so much of a nerve I'm tempted to do it just to piss people off. Look at me, I'm wearing white bucks in the winter! I'm wearing a crest for a school I didn't go to! These repp tie stripes go the wrong way, indicating I'm trying to show I served in the Queen's Guards!
Cripes, no wonder everyone else on earth just wears jeans and fleece sweaters. Apparently if you ever try to do anything else you're swatted down by some brigade of bitchy queers. Good lord, the commenters here are worse than the worst gay males I've ever encountered - and I should know.

I am relatively new to the blog and I was looking forward to your insights on the slimming effect of certain outfits.
BTW, I didn't consider it an insult for a poster to note that some outfits looked better than others. As he was polite and within the context of the post.
Good Luck. Hopefully your decision to stop blogging is not economically driven? It would be a shame if having the Rupublicans drive the global economic bus into the ditch has caused you and your's such harm as to force you to quit blogging.

I must agree with the anonymous commenter about the gay angle (and I'm gay myself). One of the lessons that the online menswear world teaches is that ostensibly straight men (I use the word "ostensibly" advisedly) can channel their inner bitch as or more effectively than even the queeniest drag queens -- and that's saying something!

I enjoyed reading your blog and seeing its photos. I have learned alot about men´s clothes and it has inspired my own wardrobe. It seemed as if you were in it for the fun of it, but others seem to take life far too seriously for their own good! Who cares what rude people post here, ignore the comments or disable them if you can. Life is about DOING WHAT YOU WANT, don´t let other people´s petty opinions change doing what you love!
That's too bad. I just discovered this blog in the last few weeks, and I enjoy it. And I hadn't read any of the comments until the cancellation announcement. So maybe you should just not have people comment. If not, then too bad.

Richard....don't quit the blog. Obviously, it's been a fun and creative outlet for you. Yours was one that inspired me to start blogging. The first thing I did as soon as I got an ugly a viscious comment was to activate the comment moderation option.
Come on man. Either delete the comments option or moderate them. Don't quit the blog.
Final proof that Richard is no true WASP. Every real WASP has a sense of inner-confidence, partially they are born with it and partially it is cultivated at private school. Either way, they would not be so easily influenced, as Richard has, to quit.
Not that Richard has provided anything I am dying to read on a daily basis. But its ironic his final acts epitomize his lack of wasp-ness.
