There is just something refreshing about putting a neck tie on in the morning. Why men disdain the garment so much puzzles me. Maybe they have the wrong size collar...who knows. Regardless, there are three knots that I favor, and these are the four-in-hand, Half Windsor, and the Full Windsor. Featured below is a chart to show you how to tie each of the knots.

the "modern" american male sees the tie as restricting, conservative, and a symbol of "the man" that is "repressing" them...that is why so many men hate wearing them I believe...thanks for the knowledge of the different knots I never knew how to do
Wearing a dress shirt without a tie for me is akin to wearing a pair of pants without a belt;they may very well fit,and stay up without one,but somehow I feel like something's missing...
Windsor knot? I wouldn't wear that one in public, Richard. And consider the Pratt knot; it was virtually de rigeur among the prefects at my school
I've become a bit worried about good ol' Worthington.
Has the 2nd Greatest Depression gotten to him?
Is he surviving in good health? Mentally, physically, and financially?
Surely he can pop in for a visit some post?
And we need plenty of pics.
Methinks that the tie is a holdover from the days when guys aspired to become adults
Great post. I love wearing ties. I just don't get a chance to wear them as much as I would like.
Depending on the length, width, pattern, color, collar size, temperature, fabric, shirt, hair, blazer, and most of all my mood dictates the style of knot I'm about to tie on for the day. For me a tie is really a grown up bib. We flaunt it as to say look, I've eaten a meal with out making a mess! In my opinion, no matter how you tie one on, the dimple should always remain singular. To be honest, I loath the thought of having to wear one, how ever once it's on I embrace it.
Thanks for the chart! Babe is fanatic about his knots so he will apprciate this tool. XXOO
Hate, hate, hate the asymmetry of the four-in-hand. Love the Windsor; I tie a half-Windsor when my tie is too short for the real deal.
I experimented with the Pratt for a while; it ties a lovely shape, too. Gotta give that one another run.
