Blazers & Shorts

General George C. Marshall

I am going to hold off on the Girl of The Moment until Sunday (though I usually do not post on Sunday), and focus on a clothing combination that has always intrigued me. Shorts with a sport coat/blazer, and even better with a tie is something that requires total confidence. True, there a only a few occasions to sport this look while maintaining appropriate dress, but a few occasions such as vacation and informal club functions come to mind. I have never sported this look, but I plan to do so for the first time while on vacation in the next couple weeks. Given, my fair complexion my need a spray tan first, but I do plan to try it.

That's General George C. Marshall in the picture...one hell of a set of style stones he had Richard. Great picture.

Maxminimus pulls this look off quite well.

Is a spray tan Trad? Prep? Do tell.

If you're Geroge Marshall, you can wear what you want. Otherwise you had best be under five years of age.

One might just pull off a blazer and shorts, but one pulls it off WELL. [

Except maybe Angus Young. But, then, rock stars are exempt from all the rules.]

No, spray tan is definitely not trad or prep. As for the jacket and shorts, I never cared for it myself. I would not necessarily look down on it in the right setting, however.

General George Marshall was perhaps one of the top ten greatest Americans of all time. Certainly he was one of the top five Americans of the 20th century, a military and geopolitical genius, a man who changed the course of world history forever, and he should be revered for as long as Old Glory is waved.

But in this picture he looks like a fey old queen. He deserves far better. He was the ultimate man's man.
