As promised (though late today) photos of yours truly. I will continue with my favorite blog postings on Monday, and post the girl of the moment sometime late Saturday night. Since this post is at 4 o'clock on Friday, I will let it run through most of tomorrow for commenting.
As warm weather begins to fade, we only have until Labor Day to wear seersucker. And so often we see seersucker with white shirts and pastel ties. Today, I decided to pair my seersucker with an eggshell lightweight tattersal shirt and repp bow tie. Personally, I think the tattersal in eggshell compliments the stark white seersucker ensemble. Someone like me with a fair complexion looks a little washed in stark white, and eggshell works well for me. Plus, the tattersal is a nice compliment, in my opinion. To finish the outfit off, I paired the suit with my new pair of saddle oxfords from Crockett & Jones.

Richard...nice to see you sporting your togs again. You are braver than me when it comes to patterns and stripes!

Your style is impeccable,man...
The saddle shoes are brilliant! Love this blog. My husband has a vintage seersucker suit from the Brothers that over time has developed a kind of off white patina and a very soft hand. He pairs it with cordovans and a foulard with a variety of shirts.. pink is nice.
Richard if you had your trousers taken in ever so slightly it would make you look a lot taller, (just a suggestion i know its none of my business) + your outfit looks great, beautiful shirt!
love the saddle shoes - esp. the crepe sole. i think you may be risking patten overload...check shirt, seersucker, repp stripe...but, it works in an odd way.
The suit looks like it needs to be ironed.
Have you lost weight?
Your seersucker suit reminds me of a story I overheard in an elevator. I work at a prosecutor's office and I was in the courthouse riding an elevator with a couple older lawyers (probably about 60-70). One of them was sporting a multi-colored seersucker suit, which was a bit too much for me...
Anyway, the other lawyer said when he was younger, he travelled to New York for a trial. He wore his classic seersucker suit to trial and one of the lawyers from a Wall Street firm commented that, "My God, the man wore his pajamas to court!" He said he never wore a seersucker suit in New York again.
The pictures were taken at the end of the day - thus the wrinkles.
Yes, I have lost some weight, and I am in the best shape I have been in for some time.
Cotton and linen wrinkle. It's no big deal. Have to embrace the wrinkles.
I do like the saddle shoes. But I can't embrace the look as a whole. Would never have paired that shirt with that suit!
Excuse me Mr.Richard, but in my opinion, tattersall shirts don't mix very well with seersucker suits.... It's like if you combine the best of two seasons. One is for winter, with cashmere scarfs, corduroy trousers & heavyweight brogues; and the other is for summer, you know what is supposed to wear with seersucker: linen shirts, polos, even oxford shirts. But not tattersall shirts. Don't mix it. It's confusing.
Otherwise, I ever think that only the scottish, specially the highlanders, are allowed to wear tattersall in August, hehehe...
Anonymous - Normally, I would agree with you but I follow few if any rules at all. Second, the shirt is very lightweight, and I think it looks great with the suit.
Good Show.
Seersucker (or any peculiarly summer trouser) and bucks (whether white, dirty, or saddle) demand black socks. Counterintuitive I know, but try it -- it works the best.
black socks.....oh my gosh!
Richard...At the top of the blog, you mentioned that seersucker isn't to be worn after Labor Day. I was on your 5th favorite blog today (Ivy Styles...actually, it was Facebook) and in response to a question I had about whether I could wear madras, seersucker, and my Nantucket Reds into the fall, I was told by one of the mucketymucks that he normally uses the weather as a guide rather than the season with some exceptions. (He said he wouldn't wear madras shorts on an unseasonably hot day in October. He'ld wear khaki shorts instead.) Do you agree? I live in Pennsylvania and it's not unheard of for us to get days in the eighties in early October. I'm interested in your thoughts. Thank you.
Sorry, but you're trying to hard with this combo.
