IMHO, Ralph's home decors border on the "new money trying too hard to ape old money." When you walk through his Home stores in NYC and SF, and also viewing photographs of his private homes in Bedford, Jamaica, and Colorado, I feel that he has good sense with color and texture, but I wish he would cut back 1/3 or even half of the objects in the rooms. They are just simply overwhelming, you don't have a sense of peace in the place.
A statement in the Architectural Digest (Nov 2004) article that covers his Bedford home sums it up: "The atmosphere in this house is intense, like breathing pure oxygen. It goes to your head." I wouldn't consider that a description of a true WASP gentleman.

That's a great room. I think he's wearing Nantucket Reds, isn't he? I'm wearing them right now. It was nearly eighty today.
There is only one Ralph.
Burnt Orange Cords are the pants.

Agreed on the room.
Luap - the pants are Ralph's own cordoroy's - not Nantucket's.
((sigh)). Be still my heart...
Three cheers for the venerable Mr. Ralph Lauren!!! He never disappoints.
I wish I had a room like that!! I'd never leave it.
More like 'This room is an aspiration.' amirite?
