If someone told me tomorrow that I had to sell all my shoes, my heart would be broken. Shoes are one of my passions, and I can prove this statement by admiting that I own at least 50 + pair of fine adornment of the feet. I simply love shoes....Belgians, Edward Green, Polo, etc. However, if I could only own one pair, I would chose my Alden 986 Cordovan Shell Penny Loafers and I would encourage others to choose the same. First, the shoes will last a lifetime, and they only grow more attractive with age. Second, WASPy style starts with penny loafers (one grows to appreciate tassels), and Weejuns (though dear) just will not last forever. Finally, the Aldens can be worn with shorts and a polo, a tweed sport coat and chinos, or even a suit (though frowned upon by some). Yes, this is my choice, but I am glad to not have to make it!

AGREE 100%.
Agreed
I agree - the Alden bootmaker edition sold exclusively through Shoe Mart oniline are even nicer. Love the shoes, but those wide, Navy-esque sailor leg jeans need a second thought....
Concur with above - the jeans gotta go. I mnean to say someting on your earlier posting where you wear them. Too blue, too wide, too trendy looking. Stick with regular old Levis - 501s or 505s with a narrower leg.
Agreed. I bought mine on eBay marketed as calf skin and was pleasantly surprised when they showed up as 986 shell cordovan.
Should you happen to wear 11 1/2D ....
10 D , and the jeans are straight leg, and if the cut were anymore slim.....you would think I stuck a banana down my pants. Come on, plus they are virtually raw denim.
I own a pair of Bostonian cordovan penny loafers....so comfortable yet dressy enough....the power of no laces
I have a pair of Dexter cordovan penny loafers that have been part of my ensemble since the early 1980's. Love 'em.
I like the look. What brand are the jeans?
J Crew
Didn't Ivy Style just post on these very same shoes?
