Christmas is a time of year where some people wear tacky items, and today I am going to attempt to help you not to wear an outlandish Christmas Tie. Unless, you just want to be known as the guy who needs AAs to light up your blinking tie. In short, stick to plaids and simple club style ties with small Christmas themes. Do not buy a tie that features cartoon characters or requires batteries in any circumstance. PERIOD!! The only true difference in the holiday tie is the colors of the plaid (Christmas Colors), and the little discreet Santa's or candy canes on your tie as opposed to your crests or other emblems.

I dig the VV tie on top and have the bow tie/cumberbund set that is fun as shit to wear to parties.
As the owner of lots of classy winter stuff, I hate that every Christmas party I get invited to these days has an ugly sweater or tacky Christmas tie theme (the tacky tie theme is for a party at my club none the less). My family tartan is the Skene tartan, which is quite similar to the red and green plaid bow tie featured in this entry, which means the men in my family are never short for Christmas ties. For a little mix up, I put on a tie I own by Beau Ties of Vermont, from their “12 days of Christmas” collection, which is blue with a five golden rings on ribbons pattern (the old one was much less busy than the version they are selling this year). Very subtle; looks like a regular striped tie, unless you point out to someone that it has a Christmas theme.
The only problem is that the people that wear those tacky ties do not read your blog.
I really hate Vineyard Vines and the fact that they have done a pastel Christmas tie reinforces my hatred.
I think the little embroidered candy canes or holly leafs on a navy, green or red background are acceptable. I've been wearing a red/green tartan tie seasonally for years now.
What a curious skill you have; that innate ability to both alienate and insult your audience with honest attempts at opinion and this retrograde posting of neckwear selection!
Merry Christmas!
