The Double Breasted Tweed Odd Jacket

With over a foot of snow on the ground, I am excited and thinking about what I will wear tomorrow to wrap up. Of course, tweed is at the top of the list, but if you want to stay really warm, wrap up in a double breasted tweed odd jacket. The Prince of Wales is wearing one above with gray flannels and a repp tie, and he is doing it with style and grace I might add. However, if you want one of these fine odd jackets you will probably have to have it custom made. I don't recall seeing many if any double breasted tweed jackets off the peg, but who knows. The one I own is a four and one model in a deep tan tweed, and I think I will dust off the garment bag tomorrow (it doesn't really have dust on it).

Thanks for showing this pic. I had periodically wondered why you don't see DB tweed jackets. I think I know why now. Chuck can pull off most anything, but I'm not certain about this.

I like it, the ticket pocket adds the casual air needed. Plus, he wisely wore his tassel loafers with the more casual ensemble.

A tailoring question. Is the ticket pocket unusually sited? It seems far too much to the left. It becomes more obvious this way to my eye.

Yes, the ticket pocket is a little unusually sited, and the button stance of the lower four buttons is unusually tight.

great photo. The punk prince in military fatigues next to his dad, arguably the best dressed man in the world

The punk prince in fatigues is a serving officer in HM military corps. I'd cut him some slack.

Everything that Brits
(and Italians) wear is too tight.

I agree, let's not knock the young prince. Sure, he committed a screw-up or two in his life, but who didn't at his age.

GingerSnap - First, you are a beautiful young lady, and I love your blog......I am adding it to my roll.

Richard,

While it is true that we red-blooded men spend much of each day lusting after beautiful young women, don't you think that it would have been more gentlemanly to keep your comments to GingerSnap private?

Telling a woman that she is beautiful is not inappropriate, and simply a compliment. Saying things more suggestive would be, and I would never do such for many reasons. And, at the top of that list is I love my wife and she is the most beautiful woman in the world.

I was watching an item on BBC tv a few weeks back and the POW was talking about some adam furniture collection he'd been instrumental in saving.....he was wearing a lightweight BIG houndstooth tweed jacket in brown/cream with cream linen pants as far as I could see and he looked knockout as he usually does......a couple of summers ago I bought an off the peg dark brown window pane linen jacket from BB....it's single breasted but of formal cut with peaked lapels and teamed with a pair of their tan silk and cotton mix pants, blue shirt and appropriate tie, and dark tan shoes it looks very good indeed........and a word on the redheaded prince.....young army officers in good British regiments are expected to do crazy things.....the military ethos in the UK is entirely different than the US.
