It is without question that slippers have always been part of the WASP style, but certainly they have made a resurgence to a prominent position in the lists of must have shoes. Displayed, are my latest pair of Polo (Edward Green) slippers in brown. Yes, I do own these same slippers in black and tartan, and a host of other slippers. And yes, I am addicted to slippers.

Lovely slippers and chair! Too bad the books are complete shit. But I do believe you know that, ol' chum, to your credit.
The only time any man should EVER feature such footwear is in the case of an opera slipper with Evening Clothes. Even then it is a about 3 sartorial chromosomes away from effeminate and suspect and your Buddies should be mercilessly busting your stones for mincing about in the damn things anyway. C'mon, Richard, addicted to these things.. .really ? For the love of God, go buy a chainsaw or a fly-rod or a shotgun or a set of golf clubs,or a wood lathe or scuba gear or a welding rig.....something to mitigate this affinity for little girlie shoes.
To each his own. I'll put this down to a slight eccentricity on your part, while admitting that slippers are part of Ivy League style. (Fighting words from a guy who lives in a warm clime and goes barefoot around the house - and doesn't even own a pair of slip-ons, let alone slippers!)Keep the faith, Richard.
Just picked p the same pair off GraeVineHill at a great price! Mine are made in Italy, so not likely Green's.
The logos are too big on those puppies. And that's saying something coming from my tacky ass.
Slippers, bow ties, colorful socks. All fey.
are leopard print throw pillows WASPy?
I suppose Richard that it was only a matter of time before your blog jumped the shark or went pear shaped, or maybe both. Addicted to slippers? Ugh....good God.
Keep on dressing up in the costumery you call WASP. It really is quite hilarious. I have no doubt that one day (very far...(eons) in the future) you won't look like you're trying so hard.
Do you wear smoking jackets with those beautiful slippers? They truly are quite handsome and very masculine.
Richard, do you wear these in public?
Sorry Richard, but you're turning into a cliche and a caricature. Let us know when you and Lovey get back from your three hour tour.
I don't think the slippers are girlie at all! They are quite sophisticated. I take it that you wear hose and not traditional dress socks with these; they seem to give you a rather snug fit aeound the top of your feet. Very nice!

I am a 38 year old Gen-Xer. I truly LOVED the original. I still have two copies of it, including a special hard case edition. But just as in the realm of film where sequels are often a disappointment, Lisa Birnbach's sequel to her 1980 "Official Preppy Handbook" is a huge letdown. It is not nearly as funny or well organized as the original. In 2010, it should have included color visuals. Also, the print is tiny and it crams too much into too many pages. More disturbing--the book is too politically correct. Although it was a good idea to include non-WASPs of varying backgrounds and perspectives in the prep world, the book goes overboard in that direction. It also had a partisan edge. For one thing, it took gratuitous pot shots at President George W. Bush and obviously fawned over Obama. Additionally, Birnbach writes that President Reagan's election was improbable. Really? The Gipper won 40 states against Carter, and 49 states in his 1984 reelection. Indeed, the conservative Reagan era zeitgeist probably contributed mightily to sales of Birnbach's original book. Thanks to Ms. Birnbach for ruining great expectations about her much hyped sequel to one of my favorite 80s classics. Republican preps need not purchase this book. In sum, this book is not key.
I'm addicted as well, but have yet to give them a try. My goal is to have a pair for a black-tie event coming next May. Seems Del Toro may be the best priced. Just can't seem to find anything on eBay. I think folks that have them have NO intention of letting them go! Keep on sportin' the slippers with pride!
