I know Ralph is loathed by many in the trad world, but regardless of their loathing, Ralph is part of the preppy establishment. And, over the next few days, I am going to do a few posts featuring some of my favorite things about Ralph Lauren.
To start things off, I am going to compliment the company for fine foot apparel. Some of the best made and most beautiful shoes I own have come from Ralph Lauren. In fact, if you are in the market for cordovan shoes, you should look no further than the halls of Polo for a fine selection. I personally own the brown cordovan tassel loafers, and I can truly say they will last a lifetime. In addition, I will also say that I covet the cordovan oxford bluchers, but sadly Ralph has removed from his on-line shopping experience. So Ralph, put them back on-line and your dear friend Richard will buy a pair. Alright, well that should get the masses stirred.......enough for now.

Oooh, I;d love to visit the Ralph Lauren shoe factory! Anyone know where it is?
Also, why are you on a first-name basis with Mr. Lauren.
Well at least Ralph's shoes aren't emblazoned with his Polo logo on the toe! That's my issue with most of his clothes: that darn logo. Everywhere.
I have on the brown tassel cordovan loafers right now. I've given up on trying to keep them polished. It's a futile effort.
The Darlton shell cordovans are definitely one of the very few items left by RL where he hasn't totally jumped the shark. They are made for RL by Crockett and Jones in Northampton, England to answer the above poster.
If you are truly interested in the bluchers, I would suggest calling one of the bigger RL stores (e.g. Madison Ave, Chicago, Chevy Chase, Atlanta, or Beverly Hills) ask for a salesperson and see if they can round up a pair for you. I think they are still available. Don't rely on the website. The salespeople can often locate items in stock in other stores.
