Desiring Fall Weather

Every summer, I quickly grow tired of the extreme heat, and with temperatures above 100 degrees, this year is no different. Fortunately, I live in a state that also has cold winters, and I desperately yearn for the crisp cool air of fall. Even though WASPs enjoy summer, seersucker, and madras.........I truly believe that WASPs are much more comfortable in a fall like collegiate setting. Days like today make me desire my tweed suits, fair isle sweaters, and cool tartan bags as pictured above. I can't wait for fall!

Richard,
I always thought that a fall/winter color palette offered more variety, texture and interest than spring/summer, especially in men's clothing.

That makes two of us! I've got a new Harris tweed jacket, recently returned from the tailor's and cleaner's that I can't wait to wear. Sadly, it is usually late September before things cool down enough in my neck of the woods for such a heavy garment.

Best Regards,

Ulrich von B.

I prefer an Endless Summer myself.

Tell us about New York City, Richard.

I like when the homelesses wear suits like this. Just because he's got weird boots and totally misunderstood talk of a plaid duffel doesn't mean that he can't put the sweater his gran knit for him over a tie and under a thrifted suit while he panhandles on a stoop.

Or is this another Polo ad?

Ulrich may be ready for tweed in late September, but here in balmy southern Italy it'll be late December (maybe) before I'll be wearing it, and then a fairly lightweight jacket.

I kinda envy you blokes in slightly kewler climes.

Richard doesn't live in New York. He lives in North Carolina, which was disclosed by one of the Ebay sellers he bought some slippers from (posted on another blog's comments).

I will be polite and not mention the town in North Carolina, though.

I like fall weather also, but I don't think a fair Isle yoke sweater is a very masculine choice. Just my opinion.

There is nothing masculine about the guy in the photo ...

I hope nobody posting here looks like the pretty boy in the pic!

WASPs were made for the Fall. It's no coincidence that the Fall (September) is when people say fashion begins. This is doubly so for men, for extreme summer heat negates fine fashion for all, especially for men.
