The The Forgotten Odd Double Breasted Jacket - by Richard

First, I want to thank ADG for the photo, I swiped it from his tumblr site. However, I am going to take a different path with the photo. This beautiful Alan Flusser ad reminded me that we never see double breasted sport coats on the rack. Sure, you can have one custom made, but even then, they are rarely seen. Will the coat ever resurface?

I actually had my hands on one in my size the other day in our local thrift shop, but in the end decided it would just be "too much" if I purchased it. Not sure if I can pull off the double-breasted look.

Best Regards,

Ulrich von B.

Ben Silver has two doubled-breasted jackets in the latest catalog. Not very versatile or practical to my thinking. Plus one is a Harris Tweed which is heavy and warm enough on its own, so why make it DB? Maybe in a drafty old country house.

Double breasted tweed sports jackets are alive and well at Ben Silver.

The are two in their new catalogue that arrived today. One is a camel tweed with an orange and pink overpane while the other is a dark blue tweed with an orange overpane.

Both are well worth a look, but neither comes close to the "odd" double breasted tweed sport coats owned by the Prince of Wales

This is a fine question for our sponsor, Ralph Lauren.
