Several weeks ago, I displayed my new ivory saddle oxfords, while posing the question to "tweed or not to tweed". Recently, my mortal enemy Chensvold did an expose on white bucks at Ivy Style. In his series, he posted several pictures of upper crust Ivy League students sporting their white bucks while wearing tweed and other cold weather items. My question for the readers is, will this trend ever take off again?

I am sad to say that outside of a small circle of traditional clothing fanatics who frequent sites like yours, probably not.
The current crop of T-shirt and flip flop addicted undergraduates ,especially those at elite institutions, have little or no interest in the subject topic. They'd rather spend their time texting on their I-Phones and grooving to hip-hop drivel on their I-Pods.
As for the rest of the USA population, Most Americans today would likely define "white bucks" as the hefty offensive linemen of pure German, Irish and Polish ancestry of The Ohio State University football team who hail from the small farming communities prevalent in that state.
In other words, they lack the cognitive skills as well as commonsense to differentiate white bucks the shoes from Shinola!
I love it when my husband wears his white bucks!

Essentials of the true WASP lifestyle include thrift, practicality, and tradition. While white bucks may (or may not) be traditional, they are neither thrifty nor practical.
Anonymous @ 9:59, I think it's pretty clear that the people who frequent sites like WASP 101 would likely be interested in the topic at hand while the "current crop of T-shirt and flip flop addicted undergraduates" most likely park their digital selves at ebaumsworld.com or other sophomoric digital destinations. People that come to Richard's site are precisely the people interested in whether white bucks go with tweed, so let's stop pointing out the obvious, which is that most people, young and old, don't care much about the more esoteric details of style.
By the way, yes to white bucks and tweed.
How do you keep those shoes clean in autumn weather?
Go for it, Richard. White bucks look great. At least you approach the topic honestly and with taste, unlike that charlatan and all-purpose motherfucker, Chensvold. (His very name itself sounds like that of a villain from LOTR or Harry Potter).
You have a "mortal enemy"? And you both write about white bucks? It sounds like you two should be best friends.
White bucks are currently only worn in Summer.....and you will look like a putz if you wear them in Fall with tweeds in today's World. College kids wore them in Summer Fall and Spring in the 40's and 50's....but that was then and this is now. Hell, you hardly see anyone outside of serious Preppy orbits wearing them regardless of the season. That being said contemorary College young men should note:chick's dig 'em!
metal shoe trees.
No white bucks after Labor day!
