There is nothing I love more on a cold and rainy day like today than my Burberry scarf and trench. It is a timeless combination that men and women should have in their wardrobe. The trench is one of the most functional pieces I own and no matter what you combine it with, never fails to complete any look.
However, this post is on the classic Burberry plaid. It has come under fire recently as Burberry has been adopted by the masses and has done some of the ridiculous prints and pieces. The only items that should be the full plaid are the scarf and umbrella. The clothing and handbags I have from Burberry only have a delicate lining or pipping of the plaid. It is never elegant or WASPy to have obnoxious displays of branding; no matter the quality of the item.
Personally, I adore my giant cashmere plaid scarf, like the one shown above. Scarves are my favorite accessory (after jewelry of course) and never fear, I will dedicate at least an entire post to them. So ladies, and gentleman alike, I urge you make your Burberry scarf and trench the staples of your wardrobe this fall.

Although I was never a big fan of this label, I immediately stopped wearing what little Burberry I had once it became the uniform of choice for the chavs. If you're unfamiliar with the term, here is the wiki on it.

Fortunately or unfortunately, this brand is dead, and has become quite a joke both inside and outside of the UK. Outside of the UK, the only group of people I see wearing this stuff nowadays are Asian teenagers with too much disposable income.
I like it. Classic.
I'm tempted to wear a Burberry neck-tie simply to piss off the bourgeois middle-class herbs-schlubs who worry about this sort of thing.
Vulgar dumbasses.
Anonymous 11:45 is absolutely correct. Burberry plaid is a lining only and should never be visible in any form. Umbrellas should be black....scarves are either solid, POW plaid or tartan plaid, but never, ever a company pattern like Burberry plaid or Brooks Brothers tattersall.
When I see Burberry plaid, I roll my eyes and snigger.
Yup, synonymous with chavs, innit.
Also, I liked Burberry's much more than Burberry. Is this the only company that was threatened with having their royal warrant revoked for making too much stuff in China?
I much prefer Black Watch tartan.Burberry is Chav now.
Agreed with Anonymous 11:45. Burberry is so far from respectable, it's not even funny. You'd be better off opting for Ugg boots and sweatpants. Of course, Burberry probably has those ready to sell you.
Anon 11:45 makes a very good point - though I still have a nice woolen Burberry scarf someplace.
That said, theirs is the original trench coat, invented during the 1st World War (and hence its name), and a Burberry plaid belt worn with khaki chinos might be understated enough to get away with if partially concealed by a blazer or sport jacket. The trick is to wear just an accent but not too much of this plaid.
That is just what I was thinking...chav.
Burberry is an out item currently. I wouldn't wear it with so many have nots wearing it everywhere and anywhere...yuck!
I'd actually prefer my grandfather's old Aquascutum bought after the war.
I think Berburry is not just a plaid but a taratar.
To me it's up there with RL big polo logos, Like OK I got the message of your fashion choice. Personally, only time I wear the Burberry plaid is on the liner of my trench coat.
Burbarians, all.
Burberry rain boots are rubbish.
