If you are looking to change it up a bit, and you find your blue OCBDs a little boring, then try a plaid shirt under your tweed jacket. Personally, I find it to be a nice look, but picking the proper tie can be tricky. I find that one has three choices:
1)Solid Color Tie
2)Solid Color Club Tie
3)Yellow Foulard Bow Tie
So, the next time you feel like adding some excitement to your day, try a plaid shirt under your tweed jacket.

Glad to see the blog up and running again, and I greatly enjoy the new layout.
The shirt and the jacket work nicely together, but get rid of the bow tie, unbutton the top collar button, button the side collar buttons, and clear all the nonsense out of the left breast pocket.
The photo appears to be the typically comical Polo ad, with what appears to be madras juxtaposed with tweed.
I guess bolder plaids can be done in a very informal way, like with no tie. Otherwise best to stick with tattersall, windowpane, or subtle glen plaids.
A little messy for my taste, but whatever works for you.
love the post!
A great idea! I'll try it the next time I wear my Harris Tweed (Thanksgiving day?). Glad to see you are up and running again. I like the new look to your blog.

I thought that we'd gotten rid of this godawful look in the 80s. Did I miss another memo?
I really like this look (apart from bow tie and pocket square), especially if it's paired with some denim and loafers. The ribbon belt (?) is a nice touch.
Not my taste, but have seen it on others and they looked good in it.
Off topic, what's with the crest? Are you a member of this family? Isn't this a Dutch Royal family of some sort?

Yes this is very nice....exactly perfect for this time of the year (if only the weather would be somewhat cooler)
What a great presentation of the ensemble! Very prep classic!
