Since I always prefer a skirt or dress to pants, once the temperatures drop I live in black tights. I usually stick to solid black or herringbone tights in varying shades of brown. However, I have begun to contemplate more brightly colored hues of tights for this winter. What do you think?

It depends if you really want to draw attention to your legs. It might be best not to overplay a body part unless very impressive.
I do have to agree with the commentator before me.
Only wear bright-coloured stockings (that do compliment the rest of the outfit) if your beautiful legs are of such quality that they can bear the attention that they will get.
If you're not that comfortable with gents, ladies, sleazes and douches staring up those incredible legs... Do not wear such eye-catching colours.
On the other hand, wearing only black is a bit too bland for my taste. Just be sure that the stockings (or leggings for that matter) match with whatever outfit you're wearing.
For example, if you're going all brown and cream: Wear some distinguishable tone of brown that complements the rest of the outfit. But I surely hope that this tip is unnecessary.
In any case, whatever you wear: Wear it proudly!

I just noticed, but I used both stockings and leggings in my comment. The same also applies to tights of course. Somehow they slipped from my mind for a bit...
