Shoes I Desire - by Richard

In my opinion, Ralph Lauren makes high quality shoes, or to be more accurate, he signs contracts with high quality shoe makers and then applies his name. However, I have always desired the Ralph Lauren Butler Shoes with the yellow, blue, and red grosgrain ribbon displayed above. I do own a pair of Butler Loafers, but mine have the green and red ribbon.

If anyone out there knows where or how I can acquire a pair, please let me know.

If these are modeled after a monk strap, shouldn't the buckle go in the opposite direction? Either way, these are a hot mess. Mr. Lifshitz doesn't always get WASPy right.

Is it the utter impracticality of these things that appeals to you, or just the novelty?

I hire Ralph Lauren to personally make my shoes. It's so much WASPier that way.

When it comes to ribbons on shoes, nothing looks better than the classic horse bit Gucci's the RL on TH I'll pass on.

OK not very WASPy at all. Not very appropriate for just about any time or any place. I must be honest.... I don't like these shoes.
I agree with Cranky Yankee ... a hot mess.
I also agree, Mr. Lifshitz doesn't always get WASPy right...well after all...............

They look like Mr. French stepped on Rainbow Bright.

Yankee is right. This pair of shoes is completely off the wall! Wear them and people will question your sanity.

Are you testing us, Richard?

Ralph's interpretation of certain looks is way too eccentric, or perhaps now that he's semi-retired it's more often the vision of his cronies, the kind of dapper young men who've never been accused of the slightest indescretion with a woman. Anybody who reads Genuine Authentic (an unauthorized biography) would see this.

I saw them on eBay, and also some street vendor of counterfeit handbags had similar sheos.

I think they have them at the Rugby in Georgetown!

I don't like the yellow socks either.

Un-WASPy women are into fruity shoes. Men, especially WASP men, stick to the basics. WASP men attract attention by their abilities and accomplishments rather than by wearing bizarre clothing.

Damn, bummer. That's the size I need. If you know someone who wants these let me know. I'll probably throw them up on ebay soon.

Just picked up a pair.. I have to agree with some, I'm not sure what I'm going to wear them with. But it's going to be fun trying.
