I must confess to enjoying wearing my old college scarf -- it is not only a way to subtly show your support for alma mater, it is also a way to stay warm!! I particularly like that my college scarf is longer than my other scarves -- which makes it easier to wrap around my neck once (or twice on windy mornings) and still tuck it into my top coat. J. Press is the traditional American maker of the college scarf, and Luke Eyres is one of the oldest makers in England. The above photo from the Yale Alumni Magazine shows 15 of the scarves by J. Press.

What colors are in your college scarf?
Oh, did Richard's father show you that ad from the Yale alumni magazine? Because he went to Yale, you know. I swear he did, even if it seems incredibly improbable, given what we know of Richard. Richard wouldn't concoct a lie to make him look fancy.
Crawford,
Did you go to Yale with Richard's dad?
I was given a school scarf from J. Press last year, but I have to say that at 6ft, it isn't very practical. I did try doubling it up and wrapping it in different ways, but at the end of the day, it just didn't work and looked sloppy bunched up under my coat. I am also pushing 40 and I felt like I was dressing like a kid when I wore it. All I could think of was Tom Hanks character in Big. I do wish more students on campus would wear these instead of the stupid keffiyehs that I see everywhere, but that's a topic for another day.
Which one are you actually entitled to wear? You certainly don't want to go swanning around with, say, a Brown scarf if you (not your step-uncle, ex-wife or second cousin--YOU) didn't go there . . .
Did you go to (make-believe) Yale with Richard's daddy?
Did you go to Yale?
I've had a nice wool one which was bought for me at Oxford University in the UK some twenty five years ago! Wears like iron!
Checkout the selection at Smart Turnout!
You must live in northern NJ, CT or upstate NY...all this scarf talk.... its too early!
I went to Burberry College.
Throwing in the towel, Richard?
Gentlemen, I am not a Yalie, although I do enjoy visiting the Yale Club with my Yalie friends -- love dining atop the roof in nice weather or lounging by the fireplaces with the Presidents in the Lounge on a cold day. When I agreed to write on Richard's blog from time to time, I did so conditioned upon anonymity; nevertheless, I am happy to provide the clue that my college scarf for my undergrad alma mater includes, but is not limited to, a shade of blue.
HA! I'm almost certain now that Crawford is one of Richard's personalities. With the same faux secrecy, and needing to keep us all in the dark (just imagine how easy it would be to find out who you are if we knew what school you went to! I mean, there must have been, what, three other people who went there?!), I've lost the story. Crawford if Richard, and Kipp is his wife. Prove us wrong, Richard.
Ralph Lauren College....
#5 is probably the only one with black in it that I like.
Have DKE scarf. Stumbled upon it at Paul Stuart, not J.Press
