Gray flannels, tweed jacket, and saddle oxfords are three good examples of attire needed to pull off the school boy look. The chap on the right has a look that is pure perfection in my humble opinion. Not to mention that the drape on those gray flannels is purely exquisite.

There's are many good things in these two outfits, but each has a disturbing issue or two. On the right, the main problem is the shoes. Shoes lighter than the trouser is really no good except for rare cases in the warmer months. I'm not so sure that saddle shoes are that classic, and personally dislike suede.
The man on the left has formality clashes: a sporty Fair Isle sweater with a tab collar and under a structured topcoat (sans jacket). And he's doing that J. Crew thing of pulling a belt buckle over the waistband of a sweater, which is awful. But by and large this is pretty good for the modern day.
Nice. I left behind the schoolboy look when I left school. At this stage of the game I'm much more likely to resemble an adult chalk-striped male who works at an old financial institution. At least during daylight hours.
The bloke on the right has braces over a sweater?
its an updated look on a classic look...its for the wanna-be prepsters out there
Fair Isle sweater is nice but the detailing on the jacket worn by the model on the right is retro circa 1920s. More like costume design from Chariots of Fire or Great Gatsby than what is more "normal" today.

They look like an Executive Committee Meeting of the German Village (Columbus, Ohio) Putt from the Rough Society).
Any "school boys" who dressed like that at my prep school would have be the recipients of a daily "Swirlie" replete with a log or two.
