Lately I have been contemplating purchasing a signet ring. I like the classic and masculine allure that they have. However, I would have to pair it with other simple and feminine pieces like in the picture above.
I'm french so i'll talk about what peoples do in my country :
- for people who have a coat of arms : men wear the signet ring on their ring finger of the left hand, and women wear it on the left pinky. The coat of arm is turn toward the bearer when he or she is engaged or maried, and turned toward the "exterior" if he or she is not.
- for people who don't have a coat of arm : they shoult wear nothing ! It's very poor taste, in the mind of well educated french persons, and in the good families, to wear initials or other designs on a signet ring. Signet ring is only for coat of arms. And for a man, no jewelry (except the wedding ring and the signet ring). Men wear jewelry for the significance (it has a sense to wear un symbol of his family), not for the jewelry itself !
Lastly, the girl on the photo is very classy. She wears the signet ring "à la française" !
I love to wear my signet ring.Its the only piece of jewelry that I wear everyday.I agree the somewhat masculine look is what I like. I wear my ring on my left pinky.The signet I wear looks alot like the one in the picture. I think a watch looks good to compliment it on the same hand
