Warm weather tweed is a new concept that has caught on in the preppy world. Companies like Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren for a few seasons now have made a variety of tweedy looking sport coats and suits out of linen and silk. I personally own four or five of these sport coats, and I most recently purchased the Rugby suit pictured below.
Perhaps, the companies brought these garments to the preppy world because they knew how much we love tweed, but realized that warm weather does not permit such clothing. I will admit that these garments are not the coolest wearing garments I own, but they certainly are cooler than wearing full blown tweed out of season.
In short, these suits and sportcoats offer another alternative to seersucker, linen, and madras that we typically see in the warmer months. Try one out, I think you will like it! More to come.......
