On Safari ~ by Kipp

The safari look and outdoor adventure has always been a WASPy dream. Going to Africa on safari is on my top travel lists. The picture above is one of my favorites. I love what both the man and woman are wearing and again goes to show that classic style never goes out of fashion. One could easily wear both ensembles today.

If you want to read a good short-story about safari, try Hemingway's "Short happy life of Francis Macomber."

The "man and woman" are actually Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth.

Khaki should probably be coordinated carefully because an entire outfit in it - including outerwear- may look too much like you're on safari when you're actually in Manhattan. Denim accents work with it.

As I often have observed, advertising (with Ralph setting the stage for Tommy and the others) is slightly deceptive in many instances.

'...classic style never goes out of fashion.' Isn't that the point?

isn't that the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh?

Yes, it's the Queen and Duke....

"Kipp" is no more of a WASP than Richard. Or Crawford. Or Worthington.

It's obviously not a "safari"--check out the spaniel

Don't forget to get decked out by Holland and Holland. More seriously non-camouflage cargo trousers, a cotton long sleeved shirt, a good khaki vest for carrying things, a good clasp knife and perhaps a small Swiss army knife and above all proper soled (to withstand sharp stones and twigs) ankle high boots are sufficient for most safaris.
