Polo Factory Stores - by Richard

Today, I received an e-mail to notify me of the current sale going on at the Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store.  On occasion, I will stop by and I do find some neat items in the store.  However, the significant change in the stores has become very obvious.  Once upon a time, the stores were littered with all kinds of items ranging from thousand dollar sport coats and suits, and that must have item from the season before that you just didn't pull the trigger on.  Today, it seems that all the items are catered for the factory store, and the past hopes of finding something really really amazing in the store has gone.  Regardless, I suggest stopping by and seeing their new stock.  The navy fair isle sweater looks lovely, and it does pair tremendously well with the pink OCBD.  Check them out!

How much are the paper-thin, shapeless, pilly interlochen knit shirts with the crummy stitching? Some guy at work wears those, and they are so obviously the "built for cheapskates" "factory outlet" offal.

"Factory Outlets" are almost all scam nowadays, featuring a separate line of official bottom-rung look-alike stuff sold at inconveniently located strip malls with the charade of savings. It's a sucker's game.

A few years ago, I read that the factory stores are RL's bread and butter, so they are stocked with what people want to buy. I also read that the quality is better than what you get at department stores such as Belks and Dillards.

I'd definitely recommend the fair isle sweater. It was offered last winter for $225 across all department stores, so it's not just junk made for the factory store. It's composed of an excellent blend of fabrics, making it light enough to wear through three seasons. ~Scott Alexander / theckcblog.com

Why do fashion photos always want people to wear sweaters with belts peeking out underneath? The garment has a waistband and should cover the waist, thus covering the belt.

Also, it looks stupid.
