Plaid Oxford Shirt

Today for church, I wore a plaid oxford cloth button down, and enjoyed it for a change of pace.  Normally, I wear the typical blue oxford, and occasionally a pink oxford cloth button down.  But today, I changed speeds and attempted the plaid.  The outfit had a university appeal, and I plan to try it again soon.

Outfit:

Plaid Oxford Cloth Button Down - Rugby (soon to close)
Slim Club Tie - Brooks Brothers
Navy Blazer - Social Primer for Brooks Brothers
Khaki Trousers - Rugby (not shown)
Green Socks - Ralph Lauren
Shell Cordovan Penny Loafers - Ralph Lauren

That's a sport shirt. You should know better than that.

That really doesn't look good, Richard.

Did Kipp die?

No Kipp is running our sister blog, Preppy Fox. We are working on redesigning it, and Kipp will be posting regularly soon. We will also be picking up the pace here sooon.

That is a great looking shirt and a great looking tie but when worn together both clash. The shirt is too casual, as it is a sports shirt, while the tie is better suited for a solid or pencil stripe shirt, so as not to "overtake" one another.

The shirt should serve as a sort of backdrop by which the design and colors in the tie are enhanced. Instead, this ensemble has elements that fight each other for prominence...the plaid of the shirt versus the rampant lions of the tie! It is hard to tell who will win the battle but hopefully it will end in mutually assured destruction!

I think you should tread carefully when deciding to wear plaid with a tie! In echo of what Cranky Yankee said, ditto!!!

Hey Richard,
I absolutely love it. I don't think it would be appropriate for church, but other than that I think it would be appropriate for casual days. I love how its gives you a sport and masculine look. By doing that it makes you look younger, please don't be offended by my comment. Overall, I approve. (sorry, I'm being to high strung, I'm not usually like this at all)
