Rugby Bids Farewell Very Soon

This my friends is one of if not the top designer for the Ralph Lauren Rugby Line.  The brand will soon be saying goodbye forever, and I must say it is a shame.  I truly hope that Ralph creates something just as innovative to replace the label, but I fear we won't see any effort for a long time.  This Ralph Lauren Vintage has potential, but so far, all I have seen is a bunch of cowboy stuff which doesn't interest me at all.  To the designer, WASP 101 tips it's hat at you.  You did a swell job!  Honest.

I was surprised to find out about this.

I have a few Rugby items, including a superb England rugby shirt I've written about.

I'm probably a bit too old for it, but still, it was an inspiring line.

You will have noticed, too, ol' chum, that Christian's website 'Ivy Style' has been suspended.

No doubt he's unable to pay the bills. Big surprise there. Or, maybe he's planning another opportunistic move like the slimey little leech he is.

We shall see.

Rugby was an amazing concept. From the clothes, to the site, to the stores.

I spent time in multiple Rugby locations and if you never had the opportunity to explore one, you missed out. The decor was 2nd to none, it was an experience in every sense of the word.

Its fusion of traditional Ivy Style with contemporary prep and its edgy touch made it unlike anything else out there. There was Rugby, then there was everybody else.

Clothing should make you feel a certain way. Thats why we wear it, right? As is so often said, "Clothing makes the man".

It was fun while it lasted. Farewell Rugby, you will be missed.

I never had the opportunity to buy the damn stuff here in Scotland, unless something turned up on Ebay. RL kept up it's weird dislike of shipping outside the UK and although there is a large and popular RL store in Glasgow the main shops weren't given to stocking Rugby at all. I believe there is a shop in London which has been open less than a year...presumably it won't be to much longer. Damn shame. It was that bit cheaper than Polo too...
